The Smell of Growing Things...

I have many dreams. I remembered one while on an adventure yesterday. My pal Duke and I went for a walk, a walk to remember for sure. We made many discoveries. We found various evidence of creatures, mainly deer. We found their tracks in the sand along the creeks and their trails weaving through the forests, and a few areas where they bed down on these cool nights.
First we carefully crossed a creek, this was difficult because my pal doesn't like to get wet most of the time. Then we expertly climbed a long steep hill littered with dewy slippery leaves. At the top we found a trail and took a walk through a sweet smelling pine forest. We found an abandoned chicken house and barn. These would have made neat pictures, all of this would have. Towards the end of our adventure we discovered the greenest meadow we’ve ever seen. Our trail through the pine forest led us to the bottom of a gently sloping meadow. Surrounded by forest on all sides, and before us this field of green. I felt as though I were in a bowl. The sky above looked so vast and never ending. It was a beautiful sight! I should have had a camera with me.
With every discovery… All I could say was, wow. I was in awe… And imagine what explorers felt when they discovered a whole new world. It would be the feeling I had times a billion!
I would like to have a piece of the world to take care of. I like working the ground, getting dirt under my nails, the smell of growing things.

I am grateful for this beautiful world I live in, all the people and creatures He placed in it, and for the little things God puts in my life to bring me joy, for my family, and for my friends.

Parlez-vous français?

    Cher lecteur,

          Jessica
P.S.
I cheated, I do not know all this French. I wish. One day I will! I used Google Translate and so can you if you would like to translate this letter.
This I do know, merci ami!

I am grateful for my godly Grandmother and the wonderful time we had tonight celebrating her birthday, all my family, this beautiful day, the many languages God created, and the many people I have yet to meet.

Dent Maker

I am one in a vast creation. People have lived before me. People will live after me. I want to leave a mark. Make a dent... I have a dream.
You know, when you see a car with a dent in it, you notice it. Perhaps if I make a dent in this world, something out of the ordinary, the usual, the norm, it will be noticed. I want to bring glory to God.

I am grateful for the lovely weather, good books, funny friends, my loving family, and my loving God.

Sky Puppets

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

The sky continues to amaze me today, and why not? The stage is set and the clouds dangle from invisible strings, from the hand of their Creator, right over our house. Like puppets they perform.

I am grateful to be alive, a part of this growing glowing world, for changing seasons, for new experiences, interesting people, for the blessings of God. He knows what I need and when I need it.

I Was at a Play the Other Night...

As I sat in my seat counting the minutes till the start of the show I looked around the theatre. All those faces. Sitting, standing, smiling waving. 'Red and yellow black and white.' And I realized... I have one thing in common with all these people: We all wanted to see this play, 'The Screwtape Letters'. Perhaps they were as excited and curious as I was. Maybe they were counting the minutes too. It was a feeling I had never had before.

I am grateful for life, my country, my friends, my momma, and the grace and peace of Jesus Christ.

Inspired

If you ever listen to music by an artist named Jon Foreman you may have noticed the similarities in the name of this blog, ‘Behind My Eyes’, and a song of his called ‘Behind Your Eyes’.
Sometimes things that are meant to mean one thing mean something different to me. Like music for example. Music inspires me. Not only lyrics, if the song has any, but the rise and fall, the quick pace and the slow, the heartbeat of the music.
I like to be inspired. I so enjoy the feeling of a new idea or thought blooming in my mind. In the song ‘Behind Your Eyes’ there is a lyric that stands out to me, it sparks a thought, a new idea. When I hear this song my ears thank me. When the lyric is sung I sing along. I make it a prayer.

Lord, “won’t You let me see the world behind Your eyes?”
