I was born for such a time as this...

     I often feel I should have been born a hundred years ago. Just picture it: classy young men in classy suites, equaly classy ladies in flowing skirts. Men and women persueing good, making progress, providing for their families. An abundance of books and dresses, food and games. Hard work and satisfaction. Friendly neighbors and close family. Adventure, worlds to explore.

     "13 Mordecai sent this reply to Esther: 'Don’t think for a moment that because you’re in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed.
14 If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die.
Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?'"
Esther 4:13-14

     I find comfort in this verse. I was born on a certain day, at a certain time, for a certain reason. I was born for such a time as this.

     I am grateful for being born when I was, for the family God gave me, for this day, it is warmer than yesterday, and for the adventures awaiting me tomorrow.

In my favorite part of town...

     Here, my friends, is my favorite part of town, and this is how it looked in 1929.

He puts little things in my days just to make me smile

     On the road, and all through life, God puts me in the right places at the right time. This fact became more evident on the road Thursday. He puts little things in my days just to make me smile.
     On my way to class that morning, driving up a hill, the trees parted and revealed a marvelous painting. It looked as though God had taken a large wire brush, dipped it in the large jar holding His whitest clouds, and lightly stroked this brush across the sky, just for me. He made many long strokes and made a twist of His wrist at each of the ends to make a pretty curl. It was truly beautiful. I had never seen clouds like those. I felt as though nobody else noticed them, it was a present. 'I know you, I love you,' He seemed to say.
     After class I decided to go to my local library. There are many ways to get to the library, I took the road that would enable me to see my favourite part of town. At a stop sign I smiled to myself as I watched a mother and two little girls cross the old street. As they were crossing, one of the little girls looked right at me and waved with her sweet smile and her precious young hand. That put a real smile on my face and I shook my hand wildly.
     Driving around a community college later, looking for a building that had disappeared from the map, I found myself cruising down a forgotten road. There, I saw a man walking his dog. It was a young and beautiful Golden Retriever and he looked like a history teacher. He had a pipe. I smiled.

     I am grateful for creation, for the gorgeous skies, and for his people, for my family and friends.

Characters - Preface

     I have met many interesting characters in my adventure so far.  They make my little story interesting. They make it colorful, they are rainbows and fireworks. Each of them add so much life to my adventure. Overwhelming joy. Renewed determination to be better, to keep striving for my dreams. Here is a series that will never end. I'll share my love for them here.

::::

     I was sharing my idea for this never ending series with my momma. "[You are] very interested in characters because you are a character," she said with a fake accent for fun. I will write about her, I promise.

::::

     I am grateful for this beautiful new day, the time I'll get to spend with my sister this evening, my dear friends and family, and the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.
