Wings

Butterflies... I've always liked them. I see complex beauty. Imagine life as a butterfly.. Hmm, I sound silly. But read on if you will.
You start life off eating like a pig, what a life huh? I bet life gets pretty comfortable as a caterpillar. Sure some of your fellow grubs get snatched up for breakfast, lunch, or maybe dinner. (Yikes!) But that would never happen to you, no way.
Then, change is around the corner, and you've got to wrap up yourself safe. What could it be like to spend all that time closed up? Is it cozy, toasty, and warm perhaps? Does it get cold and lonesome and terribly quiet?
But one day you stretch out. Your senses take everything in. It is all new, yet vaguely familiar. Fresh air, maybe a gentle warm breeze, and then you realize... You've got them.. You're wings!
I have never witnessed a butterfly test her wings for the first time (I will put it on my list). I think they learn quick how to use their new gift. Or maybe it just comes to them.
Brace yourselves. I'm trying out my wings.
